10:30-12:30, MONDAYS— 10/19, 10/26, 11/2  In this series of seminars, we will cover 3 major areas. The first session will review the intricacies of private insurance and Medicare – the pro’s and con’s of the available choices. In the second session, we will discuss how to manage your own care (what is quality care and can you be your own advocate in choosing the care you receive).  In the third session, we will talk about advanced planning, the conversations with our families and physicians that nobody wants to have but need to occur (living wills, health care proxy, etc.).  Dr. Brem is Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics (Nephrology) at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and was a full time physician on the medical staff of the Rhode Island Hospital for 30 years. In addition to providing direct patient care, he taught medical students, residents and fellows, and ran a basic science   research laboratory.
