The Edward King Senior Center in Newport RI announces new program; “The Studio.” Seeking Actors. Open Call set for September 8 and September 12
A new program called “The Studio” is being launched at the Edward King Senior Center heralding a new direction for this innovative community resource. The Studio will explore the literature of theater and performance.
One of the meeting rooms will from time to time become a “black box” studio, with the performance of a play. A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters is set for performance in early November, followed by Rhode Island playwright, David Christner’s script, Red Hot Momas, currently being performed in Russia and Italy.
An open call audition will be held on Thursday, September 8th with one again on Monday, September 12 from 5:30 – 8:30 PM at the King House.(35 King St. Newport.) Actors are asked to come prepared with a contemporary monologue and a photo and resume of their work. All ages, men and women are welcomed to audition.
